Her mother Brya made a fortune after having developed a better way to insulate weavers' homes together with her starcrafter fiancé (since weavers live in cold climates while crafters live in hot ones, he was often uncomfortable when he was with her). However, Brya's fiancé died shortly before their wedding and her mother married into weaver-nobility. Her father Niyol's family was poor after decades of spending far too much on glamour and married the two, combining money and title once more.
Chikyu no uta (a name chosen by her mother, often looked at as a little over the top she introduces herself simply as Chikyu) was the first child to come out of this marriage and was thus spoiled absolutely rotten by her father while her mother actually ruled their lands. Chikyu was supposed to be the successor, but decided together with her parents that her younger brother should succeed them instead. She realises that she has neither the talent nor the necessary devotion to rule, as her interests are more on the sweeter sides of life.
As per the command of her parents she now travels from kingdom to kingdom to find a fitting young noble to be her groom - but she's laid her eyes on something (or rather someone) entirely different.
