An Offering for the Ghost of Hieronymus

I've been meaning to do this one for a while, in homage to one of my all time favorite artists and pieces of art. It is of course based off the bird-creature in the Hell Panel of Bosch's classing painting "The Garden of Earthly Delights". This creature has enchanted me for years, and I could not help but create an interpretation of him in my own style, with a few alterations here and there. I tried to keep faithful to the original in all the basics, however, the pot on the head, feet attached to the chair, the shape of the chair, the strange bubble and pit below it, etc.
I'm quite aware is has a huge amount of technically perspective/proportion issues going on, and really don't mind like usual, as it's Impressionism.
Prismacolor pencils on black. Shrunken from the original size for somehwat better computer viewing.
And wow! It appears I drew. . .vore! I haven't drawn any vore. I'm not sure how truly vore it is, what with there being no sexual intent behind it, but, he's certainly devouring what appear to be people-things. Although they are damned souls, really. But I'm gonna label it tame vore because I can. XD

Very nice! Smooth, stark, looks to be carved from stone or shell like a cameo.

Thanks for the comment! I'm glad it worked, was going for the bas-relief feeling like I often do. =)
I thought it might've been Bosch-inspired! Man, i love that texture. You're a master of implied 3D! <3

Thanks much for the comment and fave! =) I have an obsession with the idea of bas-reliefs and carvings on ancient temples, and it seems to filter over into my art. I'm always thinking bas-relief, heheh.

This begs the question, have you tried sculpture? You'd seem to be a natural at it. :)

Yep! And am working on a sculpture type piece currently, in fact *g* I started making three dimensional things before doing much drawing, and do draw more than sculpt nowdays. But, still like to go back to 3D stuff, going to try and post photos whenever this one's done. =D
