yea they do, many can be eaten fresh if you are careful, mostly they were used in war years particularly in England when wild hips were harvested to make rose hip syrup and issued to children for the vitamin C content because other sources were unavailable. This occurred to some extent in Australia too. They can be made into syrup, jam, drinks, pies. Pretty amazing stuff. *hugs*
