Yeah it's Marissa again! Forgot I never colorized this so I fixed that! I freaking LOVE this character and I've been thinking...I think Marissa used to be a dude.
See, with some fish and amphibians they have the ability to change their gender and I always wanted to actually apply that to an anthro character. Now, salamanders have only been recorded as changing from female to male but we're gonna toss that out. Frogs can change from male to female so maybe his dad was a frog? OR perhaps his mother was a male to female frog and his father was a female to male salamander? Or maybe his mother was a newt? Apparently newts go both ways.
Either way I imagine a skinny nerdy salamander guy in a fraternity, surrounded by guys, avoided by girls, getting so sexually frustrated he accidentally triggers a sex change. A very VERY thorough one it seems. The girls still don't like her though so she stayed in the frat and became a sort of party girl. Still a massive nerd though.
I mean Futaba-chan was one of the inspirations for her design so it kinda makes sense, don't you think?
...and now I need to get her in a cosplay outfit. Who would a salamander cosplay though anyway?
