Reminds me of a cartoon I used to watch back in the late 90's early 00's called Mucha Lucha. It focused on kids going to school to become Luchadors and every character in the show wore masks because they were Luchadors of some kind. I think some episodes even focused on the "Day of The Dead" festival. In the show being unmasked was the worst thing to happen to a Luchador. :)
