Ich habe das ganze schon recht weitläufig mit Bild und Dialog im Kopf, aber das Umsetzen dauert leider so lange - fehlende Übung. :I

ZOOTOPIA HATES FOXES. And what better place for fox hatred than a place called Bunnyburrows. The unfortunate implications are off the scale. Why are animals so comfortable descriminating against foxes? Why are they doing it so openly? Why are there stuff like repellent, deterrent and a TASER aimed at a VERY SPECIFIC type of animal, and why are those products legal and endorsed by society? Keep in mind, foxes are people too and it's like the world hates them and won't care if they go extinct. I get it's because of stereotypes and such, but man, the world of Zootopia is such a mean place if you're fox.

My idea to how Judy's family will behave around Nick's first visit: Judy drinks a glass of carrot juice, her mom says "So how many dates have the two of you been on so far?" Judy spit-takes.

That's funny, because I had a pretty much identical scene later in mind. Only after Judy's mom knowing they're dating she'll subliminal ask her "So, how does 'this' work between the both of you" which makes Judy spit her juice making her complain "MOM!" in which Bonnie will only respond "What? It's not like EVERYBODY else will wonder about the same thing."

I just don't know if this is a bit too 'verbal'.

For a Disney movie, possibly yes. They don't really do inuendos that much anymore, thank God.

I'm working on a fanfic idea myself, a sequel and it'll have it's puns that'll play out with Nick and Judy that aren't inappropriate. Now I call Trade Mark (TM) on these ideas so no stealy. Nick and Judy take a vacation from the force and Judy decides to take him to meet her family. *Insert Judy spit take scene from earlier*

We also get to meet Nick's mom face to face for the first time too. Nick introduces her to Judy and he shows her around the ZPD. Stop by a water dispenser and his mom, Mary Ann Wilde(TM), says: "Your girlfriend sure is cute." Nick spit takes. "What!? We're just friends! An-and don't call her cute...she hates that."

Both of them get called to the chiefs office and a new character, an old flame of the reinstated mayor Leo Lionheart, is about to assign them a task. Before hand Nick and Judy both got a cup of coffee to help them take their minds off what both their mothers said. When they find out that they have to fake date, both have a spit take.

What do you think? I'm looking for pointers of any kind before I start typing the fanfic up.

Well, when it comes to other persons fanfiction I'd say: Whatever floats your boat! :)
What you describe from the plot so far sounds reasonable I think. Still you shouldn't see these ideas as trade marks, cause some of them are already made and/or in the heads of many fans.
You even call that whole Judy's family meets Nick-thing a trade mark which is basically what you were responding on here in the first place. ;)
Besides that I'm aware that there are hundrets/thousands of fanarts especially around this idea.
So don't worry, I won't steal any ideas, I got plenty myself. ;)
Just don't be mad if some ideas are similar to another.

May I advice you to take a look at EWS (Eric W. Schwartz') last mini-comic "the 'c' Word"? It's a fun comic around that whole cute-thing. C:
