Composed by Patrick Reid
Arranged by Fox Amoore
Featuring Jen Philpot/Jocarra on flute

A musical portrait of Luke, featuring three sections representing his character progression.
1) Naive youthfulness, tentative and shy, and just a little mysterious.
2) The painful break from innocence, sorrow and angst.
3) A heroic maturation, victory.

Once upon a time, Pat wrote me a solo piano song for Christmas. It was a theme song intended to be a musical portrayal of Luke, a much beloved character from my story The Tripartitus. We joked about how if my story ever became a movie, his theme could be incorporated into the soundtrack in its fully orchestral glory.
In return, I got him this for Christmas, a fully orchestrated version of his song he wrote for me, featuring myself on flute.
Yes, the first portion includes "duelling" flutes, each part recorded separately and then mixed. One melody represents Pat's original, while the other represent's Fox's.
Also, forgive the quality of the flute. I only had a $10 mic and free downloadable recording program to work with =/

Many of them seem to be nature-oriented. The beginning feels to me... like the seasons changing. Like a tree growing alone on a cliff, moving through the seasons of spring, blossoming and growing new leaves, and falling cherry blossoms. Then as the tree grows leaves I see a young man sitting under it alone, and then with someone else though that image is bittersweet, as though they both know that being together can't last. Their passion is sweet and bitter at the same time. Then, a journey of some sort and the hopes of finding what he is looking for, with perils that he has to face. Many trees, like a forest, but it seems mystical or mysterious to me somehow. This leads into triumph, like the climbing of a mountain and finally reaching the plateau and finding what he was searching for.
I know those are kind of scattered there, but I was typing as I was listening and just writing down the images as they came to me. :-P

That's great! I'm glad that it does tell the story that you were hoping for. There was a lot more imagery in there but I couldn't type fast enough to actually get it out as I was listening. I know that music inspires me and that my art seems to flow better when I am listening to it, probably because my brain relaxes into visual mode. I hope that you do publish your story some day, and that it does get turned into a movie. It seems very moving, very emotional.
