I've been planning on doing the chicken thing starting this year. I had my brooder all set and ready, and this morning I went out and bought six Barred Plymouth Rock chicks. (I really had my heart set on Rhode Island Reds since they're my favorite breed, but no place in the area had any. But BPRs are a close second fave, so I'm cool with it).
These will be used for egg production, not meat. I couldn't bear hurting my chickens that I'm raising from babies, so no comments/jokes about eating them, please. I will ignore and hide them
I do have a short video.

Cute!
Got chickens myself, if I haven't mentioned it to you. Raised them last year, so they're laying this year (getting about six eggs a week!) and one of the new ones is all broody, which is adorable (last year one of our chickens went broody, so we shoved fertile eggs under her, hence peeps).

ahh, i thought this breed was familiar. we had one of these at my high schoole due to it being a ranch as well. she was named specky and she was very friendly and calm when held. i use to play a lot with her and the other chickens during my time there. sadly we found her body one day as someone had hurt her leg and a coyote got her.
Here's one for you: The chicken is the closest living relative we have to the theropodia. Chickens are first cousins, many times removed, to tyrannosaurs, raptors and other various prehistoric carnivores.
They don't LOOK it, but they have quite a lineage behind them, and those I've known that kept little flocks of them say that they can see the theropod blood in them when they hunt.
