Looks like Maya finally broke me.
This might be it, my friends. :(

From what I understand, it does sound like that the old licence did not get properly deleted when he reinstalled the program. A full reinstall of the computer/operative system could possibly solve it. Tho that means he would have to extract everything that he wants to save over to a external harddrive.
I slowly have the feeling technology starts to fuck everyone over. just you wait until terminator start to walk the earth. not the ones from the movies... just machines that troll us and make lour life inconvinient
as for problem solvinf I would try what was said before. call the customer service or..... cancel your membership and make a new one if that helps somehow

That's the big reason I hate Blender. After using Maya for so long, trying to get the hang of how Blender is set up for modelling is rage inducing. While the graphical interface is modular, the keyboard shortcuts are set in stone and that's the part that really needs to be changed.
they can be set to work just like Maya shortcuts and the properties panel allows you to configure everything about Blender how you want. Literally just start the program and choose Maya/Blender/3dsMax in the drop down panel on the splash screen and everything will be just like those programs.
( be careful with your links, neither of them are working the way you pasted them '-' for the first one there's a ")" at the end of it, and the second is cut in 2 (Wi ndows)
not really willing to be a bother or anything, and I'm actually glad to see someone with a concrete solution, but I just couldn't help but notice that. As a fan of Benezia's work, thanks a lot, I do hope it will provides her some help '-' )

I used Maya for a short time but whenever I would do something that would require some computer power it would literally crash my display driver and in some cases blue screen. Can you uninstall everything and then re-install?? Usually I found that when they update their stuff it

Oldie but goodie. Apt for Maya as well: https://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/1999/07/28
I feel your pain man... I did a three year course in 3D Computer Animation that turned into a FOUR year course because of Maya and all I got out of that course was a nervous breakdown and a hatred for maya. The things that more annoying about it is that it pretty much put me off of 3D modelling altogether as when I did try to get back into 3D modelling again with maya I just couldn't bring myself to use it... and when I tried to use blender recently, I just couldn't get around the interface as despite it having a "maya" option... it just doesn't feel right.
