That tummy thing is such a tease! They know their stomachs are the softest but they won't share, only tempt.

I love this. A lot of information is being conveyed through precise and straightforward gestures, symbols, and expressions distilled to essentials as well as spatial relationships and colors -- and the cat expressions are great. =^_^= It was my desktop wallpaper at work for a while. I think you've made some universal observations -- reminds me of every cat I've known. It is important to remember that manic cat is not receptive. Funnily enough the same applied to my manager.

They really are! You'd think with all the scratching and petting, they'd hold still.

They also seem to not be able to remain standing if you pet them. At least ours do, as they always fall onto their sides.

If somebody were giving me full-body petting, I know I would flop onto my side too.

you cannot approach her or pick her up without permission. and if you pick her up you MUST put her on your shoulder. Her belly is to be pet under NO CIRCUMSTANCES.

The only way I can safely pet my cat's stomach is if I distract her with petting her head at the same time :D

I'm the only person who can pet her belly (which she loooves) while anyone else gets attacked when they try xD

This is wonderful - I have five cats with varying degrees of permissiveness (all but one enjoy belly rubs) and since there's two identical pairs (well, identical to visitors, I can tell them apart) petting any random cat can mean taking your life into your hands.

This is understandable completely and can be compared to alot of other cats :>

I used to know a cat that would give that belly-rub invitation. I would accept the challenge and end up with a catwrap on my arm, furiously trying to eat my fingers off while clawing at every square inch of tender and easily-torn flesh possible on my arm.

This happened nearly every week for years.

People thought the cat hated me, but every time I would sit down the cat was on my lap purring away in complete contentment and utter blissfulness ... while I wrestled with tourniquet and bandages. :3

Lol this is so cute I love it. My cat Gary who's a red tabby loves his belly rubbed. All of my cats do but Gary will especially roll over to get tummy rubs. I wonder why some cats like it and some cats don't. I guess for the same reasons why some people like blue cheese and some don't :P.
