I'm taking bit of a break from my Africa theme, and decided to go back to heavy horses.
ladyepona was kind enough to let me try drawing one of her photos. My thoughts in the order they occurred:
1. Great photo.
2. I must be nuts.
3. I must be utterly mad.
4. This is going to be a disaster.
The pose was so hard, I almost gave up several times, but I'm nothing if not tenacious. Given how much I struggled, I'm really pleased with the end results. I used some artistic license with the tail and the background, but otherwise tried to be true to the original, which by the way is here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1954795
Oh yeah, and the title is rubbish. I just thought there was something very joyous about this pounce. ^_^

No, I ment it as a complement! ^^;;; I just worded it wrong...You seemed to be a bit negetive about the picture and I was trying to say it's actually really good even though you didn't seem to like it...I don't think...I dunno...Don't mind my ramblings...Sorry...^^;;;
I would say the only thing is already been said. The back end. I looks like it is just half as wide as it should be for a Shire mare. But with these difficult pose I think it came out pretty well. You did a pretty good job on the shading and the wild flying mane. The feathers look a little bit...rough....don't now how to say it. Like the single hair is half an inch thick. But still ok. ^^
It is funny that you picked that picture....I was expecting it.

You know I like torturing myself... As I said above, by the time I managed to make it look like a horse rather than a lump, I wept with joy and put some colour on it. My scanner has decided to hate me again, it did really weird things to the colours, too, which might explain some of feathering weirdness. And I was semi-unconscious with painkillers when I drew it. But those are all excuses, as usual. I will endeavour to do better in the future. >_<
I've been away from FA for a few days so I haven't had a chance to comment on your recent work. I really loved the Africa pieces, great job on the backgrounds in them.
My first thought when I saw the thumbnail for this one was "wow, that's quite a pose to attempt" and while it isn't perfect I think you did a good job. =)

No worries! And thanks very much, although the more I look at the picture, the less I like it. Hidalgo is right, the back end is far too small. But it was a great photo and a fair try, I feel.
Thanks for the fave as well!
If you don't mind, I'd love to use some of your other photos as reference in the future?
