352 – Portrait of a Creep
Oh, I guess that protrusion must have been…. a second hat brim. Which is no longer there. Okay. Okay, it was a mistake. Sorry!
So completely unrelated, anyone out there like old-timey text adventure style games? I’ve been working on a short little text adventure game just for funsies that’s kind of tangentially related to the Guttersnipe universe: You play a kid who wakes up in the middle of the night to find themselves all alone in the house… or are you? If you enjoy this comic, you might enjoy this game. I’ve had a few friends look at it so far, but it’s got to the point where it’s probably near complete enough that I need a few more eyeballs on it to test it out and check to make sure the game works, makes sense, and, perhaps most importantly, is fun. This is my first ever attempt at a game, so hopefully it will be entertaining! If you’re interested in helping me beta test this thing out, drop me a line at thenewmeat[at]hotmail.com or a note here, I guess. Thanks for your help and interest! That’s all.

"Old Man Sweetiepie"...good thing he's imaginary....not like looking at his picture would let him enter your world....he'd just be a ghost of a ghost right? Right? Cause the temperature dropped here and there's a weird smell and the light flickered and went out except for the comp here...i think i must be tired...hearing children’s voices...sing song...or is that screaming???
Wow, this guy is so evil, neglecting safety, locking the workers inside. I'm so glad no company like that exists in real life.
[[ Looks at FoxCon and their 'anti-suicide nets' attached to their building ]]
Well, I'm glad nobody's been his evil in America.
[[ Looks at stories of pre-Civil War Plantation life ]]
At least nobody's been this evil to other people since we abolished slavery.

Along the same lines, here's a Frontline documentary from around 2003 about the McWane corporation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MH5mAH5BhDk

Yeah, I've seen so much like that in my training. I've had the OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour training, and I'm the head of my company's safety team. We don't have a lot of major safety hazards, a lot of it is from over a decade of neglect from the maintenance department. Fortunately, we've finally gotten rid of most of the deadwood at the top of Maintenance, and the old maintenance manager has been relieved of duty. (He's still around, despite being part of the deadwood problem, Guess he got the job because he's an old friend of one of the owners, so he's got tenure or something) He's still the maintenance Manager by title, but all his managerial responsibilities have been taken over by the Assistant Plant Manager, who is just responsible for the maintenance department.
The plant I work at is like something through Alice's looking glass; it produces and ships the product despite its own incompetence. They actively refused to purchase and install the equipment that would let the injection molding presses report their production numbers directly to the network server. They actually FEAR the base accountability that would let them know if they're operating at a profit or a loss.

I don't know if they count, but I think they do. I played The NeverHood through to the end, as well as something called Circle of Fire:Sword of the Templars (or something like that). I managed to get about half-way through another called ToonStruck. That was years ago. I haven't really had time for computer games since.
