This must've been when I was in early elementary school, if that. When I accompanied mom to Kroger they had these mini-shopping carts for kids. The cynical part of me wants to say they were molding future shoppers, but really it was probably to keep the kids placated while mom and dad shopped, so they might buy more. I remember they had bright orange plastic handles.

The way the store was laid out, moving in a counter-clockwise way from the front door, we passed the deli/seafood area, and for some reason they had this frightening monster suspended from the ceiling.

"Come on Kyle, it's okay! It's not real, it won't hurt you!"

"ITSGONNAGETMEITSGONNAGETMEOHGODWHYYYY!?" ;A;

Eventually they ran out of kids carts, but I remember not before I was brave enough to bolt under the scary-thing without having a complete meltdown!
