This seems to work for both color and the gray scale the e-ink kindles use ...

You might try re-texturing the back wall, it looks more like it's in an office building than a space ship. Or the back wall is one big marble slab, not something you usually see in space...

That was the idea, poor old Neal saddled with chakats and other furry critters - or is it poor chakats and other furry critters saddled with Neal?
The cover of course is to get someone to stop and look and chakittens be different enough to possibly do that.
I'm still trying to clean it up so I don't get dozens of errors converting the file into something for the kindle and other e-readers to handle.

Wow, am I late to the game...
You may want to work on the hair shading. Without the use of a fur and hair package for Daz (I think there is one, and it's relatively inexpensive), this might not be easy; If you know how to use normal maps, you might be able to fake it well enough so that it doesn't look like plastic, and rather jarring.
