Just some photos that I'd had the time to put together to show how he has been coming along over the past two weeks!
He started out as a bucket head of foam on a balaclava base, seen here! Overlays of Darius' basic shapes were done by me.
I think that it's needless to say that he has come a long way!
I'm hoping that I can articulate a toony, grumpy, big cat look with him. Also saber teefs. I need lots of those.
If you all have any information, advice, critique (but don't go too hard on me! D:), then I'm all ears.
Other than that, I've been having fun with him so far. I've just been taking my time and handling it one challenge at a time.
Next, I will likely finish off any other areas of the face that needs reinforced (upper muzzle/muzzle/cheek) and then on to drafting some ears!

Aww! Don't be scared. I know that the task of constructing a suit head as well as other parts can be REALLY daunting, but please don't let that get in your way of trying! I initially was SUPER scared to even attempt my saber cat, Darius, because he's got a lot of difficult features. The saber teeth and his blue hair that extends into a mane far down into his back(nsfw just for a tasteful butt) are what made me so hesitant to make him my FIRST attempt at a suit head.
My advice to you is - as cliché as it sounds - just go for it! BUT make sure you are prepared to do so. Have all you need readily available to you. Reference sheets of the character and the species it is based off of are a must!
Another tip is to take it slooow, especially when you are just beginning to jump back into fursuit building again. Take it nice and slow and absorb as much information as you can on the subject. I have been making this head off and on for about 10-12 days now, just to make sure everything looks right and I really don't want to mess up either! :p
Taking pictures and red lining them or asking others to red line them for you is also VERY beneficial and I HIGHLY recommended it.
I hope some of this advice has helped you. Just be easy on yourself - don't be afraid to try. :) You never know until you do! And I'm sure you will do just fine.

I also want to make him look as accurately as I can to the style I want, and have him as perfect as I can be. It's A LOT and I mean A LOT of working on it, taking a step back for a day, then with a fresher mind, you can tackle the project once again. I feel like you make your best progress that way!
Thank you so much! You've really inspired me to start working on my suit ideas. I already have all the materials I need to make a fullsuit. I think my first suit will be a cosplay of Alice from Bloody Roar. I've always wanted to make it just never had the motivation to do so. Thank you for everything! I also can not wait to see the final pics of your suit. It's going to be soo amazing!
You're welcome! I'm always happy to help. ^^
It's okay if you don't have enough materials for a full suit. I'm just going for a partial myself at this point in time, and most folks usually do just end up making partials for themselves. I'm not brave enough yet to venture into sewing a fullbody yet. XD
DUDE! Bloody Roar was the best! I loved that game. Please keep me updated on how that goes!
