I just read an article on NPR the other day that was talking about how there's shockingly little choice in housing for most renters right now. Either you get total slums like this one, or you pay through the nose for high dollar stuff. The middle ground is virtually nonexistent.
That's starting to become the situation in Newark. They've been building a lot of luxury rentals lately, despite the fact the town has very few wealthy residents. And even rentals like this one are expensive to begin with, the luxury ones being even more expensive. In many cases also, even the homes that look alright from the outside are in rough shape on the inside
