dry stuff is extremely dry. even more so as his lectors are dry as twigs. hard to swallow for a itchy, impatient youth... poor guy. :)
I have a feeling his attitude might change either when he has his first success, or something happens only he can fix. or both. but doesn't matter, however, it's the way the story is told. :)

in german, lessons which consist of nothing but dry facts are dubbed 'dry'. also, if someone tries to teach them after the book, without bringing life or enthusiasm into it, he is considered being 'dry', too.
there is also the difference between dry lessons and dry humour. =^_^=
