This is a photo of my M16A4 with ACOG. The M16 was designed by Colt, manufactured by FN and the ACOG is made by Trijicon. I have attached a buttstock magazine holder to it and as you can see, there is dust and dirt all over it, yet I clean it all the time.

Nice gun! Now it would be really cool if you had an M-203 with it XD I'm a bigger fan of the 7.62 rounds. I own a Chinese SKS and a Russian M-44. Both have the bayonets too. I have shot the M-16 and it had a major jamming problem where my two guns never jammed on me yet. But it is still a very cool gun you have. ^^
Thanks. I have only had issues with jamming when firing older rounds or older models (the A2). I do like the 7.62 weapons myself, but the 5.56 is pretty nice. Light, and it gets the job done. I also like the range it gives me, plus, it lacks the kick of a Combat Shotgun, which is nice.
I always been a sucker to shoot guns that might have a nice kick. My buddy was in Operation Desert Storm and he always had fun stuff to shoot. LOL I did like the fact that the M-16 was a lot lighter than most. I switched my old wood stock to synthetic on the SKS but the Mosin Nagant I will try to keep in original form. Its nice to know that I'm not the only fur who loves to shoot ^^
a m16a4 has multiple parts in the trigger mechanism. on single fire the automatic sear is disconnected and the cant of the trigger system is such that the burst cam isnt an issue. during this fire a secondary "hook" in the weapon's trigger that grips the hammer and prevents it from dropping again until the trigger is released and pulled again. when you next shoot the weapon dont release the trigger(as proper follow through will teach you to anyway), slowly release the trigger and you should hear a click as the rear hook disengages and the front part of the trigger takes on the load.
now the only difference between a m16a4's trigger system and the a3(automatic version) is that the m16a4 has the burst cam. BOTH have the automatic sear that prevents the hammer from falling before the bolt is in the full foreward and locked position. the rearmost part of the bolt actually pushes on that sear and releases it when the bolt closes. break down your weapon "shotgun style" and draw the bolt out. that slot(where the hammer drops) continues on for a distance and then it turns into a full circular bolt again. its that back part that disengages the automatic sear that is rotated in place when you put the weapon on "burst".
now the burst cam is what prevents your weapon from firing full auto. it simply prevents the trigger from engaging the hammer again until 3 rounds have been fired off. if you pull that off its full automatic. thats why i was curious about you having an a4 and not a ar-15. i thought they were in the same class as full automatic weapons especially considering how close they are. it doesnt require extensive modifacation, but rather just leaving a part out in assembly of the trigger group.
