Cynthius sat at her stool, her hands dancing over the tapestry before her. Small hooks on the tips of her fingers aided her in her task as she manipulated the threads, clipping and weaving the individual strands to form the complex patterns before her. Slowly a smile twigged at the python's lips, and a twinkle entered her 'blind' eyes, glancing back to the sharp metal blade of the sword as it pressed against her neck.
"I've been waiting for you, Prince Theseus."
Cynthius peered at the wolf, the smile still on her lips. Prince Theseus growled.
"Who are you," he said. "And where are the Fates?"
Cynthius chuckled.
"I am the Fates," she replied.
The sword pressed harder against her neck, creasing the flesh.
"Don't try to fool me," Theseus replied. "Everyone knows the Fates are three hideous hags."
The Prince drew his sword back, ready to strike.
"Tell me where they are."
Cynthius raised an eyebrow. Suddenly Prince Theseus staggered, his eyes bulging from their sockets. His sword dropped from numb fingers, and the wolf fell to his knees. Cynthius glanced at him before returning her gaze to the thread she had just snipped from the tapestry.
"Foolish mortal," she said. "You all think that three cannot go into one."
The python gave a crooked smile, her voice changing as she spoke again.
"I see all. The past. The present. And the future."
Cynthius looked back at her tapestry, ignoring the wolf's plight as the life faded from his body.
"And your presence here is of no surprise to me."
With deft fingers she reattached the thread, weaving it back into place. Prince Theseus gave a gasp and blinked, sitting up once more, vitality returning to him.
"You are scared," Cynthius said. "Afraid of the fate that befalls you. And so you attempt to sway me."
The python resumed her work on the tapestry as though the wolf was not there.
"I cannot be swayed, Prince Theseus. Fate shall proceed as I decree it should."
She adjusted one thread in particular, and the Prince suddenly felt the urge to leave Cynthius' presence. The python smirked.
"But know this, your Highness," she hissed softly. "History shall know your name"
The python watched as the wolf slowly made his way out of her cave, influenced by her manipulation of the Threads Of Fate. She spoke, but her words were more for herself than for any who dared listen in.
"You have a difficult path ahead of you, Prince Theseus. You may live. Or you may die. But through it all you will fight.. Stay strong, you Highness. The path to immortality, is never easy..."

the dangers of words having different meanings in different places.
I remember being in primary school (About 10yrs old or so) and the teacher was reading the book matilda (By Roald Dahl) and at one point it mentioned a character 'sitting on her fanny'
all us kids were shocked because here in australia fanny is (At that age) a swear word for vagina. but the teacher explained that over in America and Britain, fanny is another term for bum
