I did a few Living History events a few years ago, as a Resistance fighter. It was one of the most rewarding reenactor portrayals I've done, and I actually met a French vet who was a young teen resistance fighter. You may enjoy these links:

I carried a (captured from wehrmacht) Mauser K98. One of my pals carried a damn nice Sten SMG- it was real one, too! The only time I wore the armband and openly carried arms was when we portrayed FFI in liberated areas. I also tucked a little 7.62 Walther Mod 4 in my boot.
I truly liked those occupation ID cards. I portrayed an aging SNCF railroad foreman from Dijon, code name 'L'Hyene'. The ID cards are so real looking that that word got 'round to the german reenactors at 'the Gap' and we were stopped constantly and asked for our papers just so they could see how well we'd made them.
At one event, I even made a 'bomb' to 'kill' a ss officer. It consisted of a hatbox, and within it was a battery, an old relay contact and a photographic flash bulb. I placed a nazi officer's hat (schirmmutze) with a small plastic chip attached to it by a short string. The chip was inserted into the contact springs and the hat was set in the box. When a low ranking officer found it, he pulled the hat out of the box, and was suprised by a brilliant flash. In the bottom of the box was also a large note that said "YOU ARE DEAD!" I would have loved to see the soldaten's face when that flash went off! The reenactors all got a big charge out of that!
