You're probably right, though I did say 'something' like this, but who knows for sure? The sequel could very well focus on the other residents of the city with Nick and Judy only providing a cameo? Next time they could focus on Finnick or Clawhauser, heck Gideon copuld get his own movie. The possibilities seem endless with this movie.
Yes, doubt something this much aimed at families would ever go this dark with having a death in the cartoon. Not to say it doesn't happen in Nick and Judy's line of work; I believe it is only assumed they would run into death eventually. In the movie, they had a animal being loaded into an ambulance without showing blood and gore.
meanwhile all I could think of for a fanfic was this

Very well done Max. While I do have my own ideas of a fan fic of Zootopia; I think I want to leave the main characters out of it and create a character of my own. It does make one wonder where Nick's father was during his youth when he was rejected by the Junior Ranger Scouts and how he turned to hustling to make a buck. The movie does hint as Nick being raised by only his mother.
And I took a cue from the directors. They decided to have Nick's father absent because fox kits are usually raised only by the mother in the wild, much like many other mammals.
The theme here being that you can fight your natural instincts, just as the predators did years before.

I love the ending because it's true that Judy gave Nick the chance to step away from his own heritage when she asked him to become a cop.
My grandpa was a con artist and a really sneaky type too. The type that the IRS wouldnt talk to over the radio shows. I never knew my blood grandpa in person, but I think I was spared by a thousand miles between us and Christian friends. You can fight your own heritage to become someone so much greater... perhaps not as wealthy, but certainly more stable, content, wise, loving, and faithful.
Great story, Max!
