one advice: the golf V r32 sucks, and even people says preffer the bad golf V gti...the old r32 was much way better, and also a great rival of the also old S3

The new one is good only if you really want 4WD. But with minimal modifications you can make a Mk5 GTI faster then the Mk5 R32 and all for less then the price difference between the cars. Which is why I still want a GTI.

Yeah, that's the conclusion I finally came to also. The MkIV R32 had some fundamental improvements, like the rear suspension was upgraded. But the MkV GTI is already a great car, it's really hard to improve it an order of magnitude. Which is a shame, because as you say, it's just a luxurious GTI with a 6-cylinder (arguably unnecessarily heavy) and AWD. And DSG without the option of a 6-speed, but that seems to be a personal preference (I'm out to lunch on it myself).

And yet, I've seen what I thought was the biggest MkIV R32 fan sell his and get a MkV R32. So... who knows?

I like the look of these, but I don't think I'd ever want one.

I would but I wouldn't take it over the Mk5. I like Navigation and the seats in the new one's.
