Picked up a pad of thick, grainy paper of various mute pastels, and thought it would be perfect for doing what I've always wanted to try, which is using dark pencil to add shadow and a white pencil to add highlight, while letting the color of the paper be the medium tone.
I just sketched these out of a my book I use for anatomy study - Anatomy: A Complete Guide for Artists by Joseph Sheppard.

Very nice arm and muscle structure work. Ah takes me back to my days of life drawing classes. I had almost managd to mentally block out all those memories of drawing a really old fat man, until I saw your drawing and it jogged my memory. Oh well back to being scared for life for me
