Rafe, a military android fugitive who holds a grudge against the human race, befriends Alex, an eight year old girl with a knack for mechanics and a dream to be a pilot. The two of them, along with their off-kilter guide Izzy and saucy weapons specialist Charlotte "Angel" Amherst, seek to find Mechanima, a colony of liberated machines who have escaped from their enslavement.
