Went rummagin' 'round through some old boxes an found this old award I'd won ages ago at Millennicon fer the fursuit I'd made/worn durin' the masquerade ... fer havin' the most 'avant-garde' fursuit (yeah that's right cubs an pups I'm the original 'MacGyFURRE!' LOL ;)
...an not only does this old award symbolize one'a m'earliest achievements in furridom... but is somethin' else that I have from m'earliest fursuitin' days that's probably older'n some of you youngest cubs an pups!... Sheesh! Told'ja I was an ancient amoungst you critters... an I STILL am fightin' ta hang onta the last vestiges of denial of joinin' the ranks of Greymuzzles (even though I probably qualify as a great grandpaw by some'a you youngest critters heh...
When I finally do hit the big 5-0 I will most greatfully an humbly proudly creak m'tired ol' bones up those many, many stairs an stride inta the Great Halls of The Greymuzzles (hopefully they'll have an escalator installed by then!)
But this does kinda really put it inta perspective as ta how long an far we've all come an yet we're still so relatively small as far as fan-cons go...

Thank you for being a pioneer into the world of furry, Lunar. Just by bravely pursuing what you liked and were interested in, despite how much more taboo it may have seemed back then, you paved the way for critters like me to walk that same path of intrigue and curiosity that eventually opened up our eyes and minds to exploring our and others' imagination.
You stood up for people being who they are and accepting that for themselves and being proud of themselves. I've always admired that about you, Lunar, and I hope to be able to set an even remotely close example of that, and you by extension, to others.

Well shoot dude, I've always been proud'a you too! I keep tellin' critters that furridom IS m'family an ya've always been like the lil'bro I never had...an if I thought I'd have even a remote chance of keepin' m'paw afterwards I'd be givin' ya those 'big brotherly headnoogies' we tend ta do ta younger siblings heh...
But it's kinda funny how we've all at least heard the ol' expression "I been doin' this since b'fore you were born!" an then ta get ta the point where ya can literally mean it!... an the person yer sayin' this to is themselves a 21 or older adult!... it's like sheesh when did I become that older guy I always wanted ta be like when I grew up? *facepaws* :P

I look forward to being older, even though aches and pains might be coming with that age. Using my memories and wisdom over the years to make the world a better place sounds like a very satisfying reason for life.

LOL Ya ol'rover you!... shoot an now ya see how often *I* go rummagin' through boxes'a old packed-away stuff!... Sheesh dude I uncovered photos I took from centuries ago back when ya used ta drop by back when I had m'lil' apartment back in Ohio an gawds ta see what long-hairs we all sported back then...sheesh dude you were nothin' but a mountain'a hair as a background to a PC screen! LOL ;)
