Oh man, I bet everything rubber under the hood will want replacing. I'm thinking it's pre-emissions, or at least mostly so it actually probably doesn't have very many vacuum lines and such at all.
Man I would love to see that thing up close, I have never seen a Toyota older than the mid-1980's, and even then the ones I have seen were in terrible disrepair

No, they stopped due to lack of sales, the last year was 2005. Toyota doesn't really have any decent sports cars left now, until they release the new Supra. This thing is Japans take on a muscle car...o.O

I think Toyota wanted to compete in the global supercar market and they wanted something on the level of Lamborghini, Nissan GT-R, Corvette Z06, Ford GT500, Audi R8, and Porsche 911 Turbo and RS GT3. I don't think we're gonna see anymore 3.0L turbocharged engines like those in the 90's, I'm afraid.
From the way you were describing the older Celica in your last submission, I get the impression that deep down, you're a bit of a motoring purist? i.e. You like the new Celica with its racer looks and modern touches, but really there's a part of you that harkens back to the simple pleasure of classic car motoring.
Am I right?

My first car when I started driving in 1987 was a 1977 corolla. When I wanted something nicer, but at a similar price, I opted in 1989 for a 1977 celica GT. Also brown, like yours, it was a hatchback. I did love it, despite its flaws and cracked dashboard. Pity the vinyl of 1977 had such problems with poor plasticizers. I think it is very cute how celica of 1974-77 was style influenced by the Ford Mustang. Also, IMO, much more appealing in style then the Datsun/Nissan entries.
Nice find, keep it away from the salt :)
