"Wha dat, daddy?" It had taken us a little while to realize that Chuziku needed glasses. It's always difficult to tell with a young child since they themselves don't realize that there's something wrong with their eyes. To them, that's just the way the world looks. Little things eventually gave it away. Like how he'd reach for something and miss it slightly, or not noticing small objects that should have attracted his attention. Then there's the trouble of actually getting the right prescription for a person who can't really communicate what they're seeing in a way for the ophthalmologist to figure out how to correct the problem.

But, it was worth it. "Wha dat, daddy?" was becoming my new favorite subject of conversation. Just hanging out in the backyard, absorbing the sun (I'm solar powered, don'tcha know?) while Chuz bounded around the yard absorbing all the things he hadn't been able to see before. Made me smile every time he got down, tail wagging furiously, to look closer at something he'd never noticed before before bouncing off in a new direction to repeat the process over and over. It was infectious, and I usually ended up bounding after him myself, thinking "Life doesn't get any better than this."
