Just a series of portrait sketches I've been doing when I have a spare moment or two after doing the character listing project I mentioned in one of my journals. I used to do pages like these all of the time for all of my characters but stopped doing it and most of the older pages seem to have vanished. My shark girl characters with a couple of husbands/boyfriends and Meg's brother, Gary. The is the first time any of these characters have had full names.

Naming a whale Mel only makes me think of Herman Melville, author of Moby Dick. But maybe that's that you were going for?
Anyway.. yay shark girls! :>
Beech is very appropriate.. and Irwin makes me think about Steve Irwin, although I can't remember if Meg and Greg are Australian. Although, I seem to remember that Greg is, from that 'Late Night Swim' comic of him and that horse gal.

Yeah, the Melville, uh, 'connection' is what I was going for with Mel which is why I have him go by the shortened version of his name. That and he isn't fond of being called 'Melvin'.
Irwin is an intentional link to Steve Irwin and Australia because Meg and Greg (hm, never realized how close those names are until now) are from Australia. And I happen to still like Steve Irwin. Beech was an on the spot inspiration and did seem quite fitting for Heather who I figure is very drawn to (no pun intended) beaches.
