Okay, mostly due to life not being very kind to me today, I didn't have much motivation to push out a solid new piece. I have some ideas brainstormed, then I went to work on an older piece that I had stored away. I went through it, fixed it up some, it may still be kinda choppy. Its right around 1k in terms of length, like my previous one, but this was just a fun little story that I did some time ago.

A pool sits deep within a cave. Its purpose is unknown as something seems to lurk underneath its waters. There’s the sound of a loud splash as the water breaks and a beast makes its way through the cave, its lair hidden deeper in some hollow part of the mountain that the pool seemed to connect to. The beast seemed to look around before it roared, the thunderous sound a herald of its coming as he jumped passed the waterfall, its wings unfurling as the great beast took flight.
Pitch black scales that seemed to be covered with some sort of wax like residue as it glides over the land. Its sharp eyes keeping a watch out for any prey the beast could possibly snatch up. Unbeknownst to many, dragons have an amazing sense of sight, smell and hearing. And it was the last of the three that lead the beast to its meal. A bell was tolling, a rallying cry that to the folk in the area are to seek cover and hide. The dragon was not as fearsome as many thought though.
In fact, the beast was only in its adolescence. Still young and having to learn ways to make it a fearsome beast. It did not think however that in its ‘domain’ would be something that would dare try and fight it. Sadly, there was. There was a sound that startled the younger dragon. A loud and mighty roar that caused the very air to vibrate as young drake was shaken from its path. Coming up in the distance was a large beast that seemed to be moving into the area.
The dragon that was flying in however was not seeking to expand its own territory. This dragon had deep green scales and a being upon its back. On the back of the great beast was a ferret, with fur that was cream colored with red hair and markings about his body. He was clad in leather and light mail armors as he was driving a sword into the beast’s back, keeping himself upon it while trying to slay the creature. It seemed now that the larger beast had many wounds upon its body, a taxing burden due to the ferret and possibly his companions if he had any.
The young drake dived, trying to hide out of sight of the greater beast and his would be killer upon it. The young drake watched from its perch on the thick branches of a tree, its scales slowly shifting hue to blend in with his surroundings. The dragon watched as the holes in the powerful drake’s wings shred further with each flap, slowly causing the beast to lose altitude. Within minutes the green beast was downed, his wings torn as the ferret was holding on. His sword still wedged deeply between the huge being’s scales as he pulled out a thin blade from one of the many sheaths he carried upon his waist. This one however seemed to ring out a cry as it was pulled out.
The ferret sighed as he walked up the beast’s back as it landed roughly, leaping with might that couldn’t be near natural as he went to drive the sword into the skull. His mark however, shifted at the last minute, twisting out of the way as the ferret was forced to roll instead of land his blow. The male got up and went to look upon the beast that had backed away from him. His cape bellowing behind him, the article seemed to be made from the hide of a dragon. The ferret gave off a snarl as he advanced, leaping in an odd like pattern from side to side in an intricate dance get closer and finish the beast off.
The dragon wasn’t sure what to make of the odd movements the ferret was displaying. It went to try and swipe at the nimble thing only to miss and receive a painful gash upon its foreleg. The beast howled in pain as it reared up, taking in a deep breath of air, intending to unleash a powerful mist of corrosive acid upon the ferret, but it was too late. The mustelid managed to close in for his final strike, as his blade plunged past the soft underbelly of the beast. The dragon let out a loud roar as it realized its death, the blade not only cutting and stabbing its heart, but the very material cause the beast agony.
Within seconds the beast’s life faded. The ferret pulled his blade out and went to wipe it off as he placed it back into his sheath. The male then set about to move, gathering his other sword as he looked about, trying to gain his bearings and slumped slightly. It seemed the male was tired, and the young dragon saw this as a chance to get an easy meal out of the tired warrior. The black scaled dragon dove, flapping his wings and diving down towards the male as it seemed to just now take notice of it.
The look of shock brought some delight to the adolescent as it was about to take revenge upon the death its fellow dragon. But then out of nowhere, a bolt of ice shot out and crashed into the young dragon, causing it fall out of the sky. The ferret looked to where the blast of ice came from and saw his companions heading towards him. He smiled a bit before looking the young drake that was reeling from the blast. The frost set in and started to creep across its being.
The ferret sighed as he walked towards the smaller dragon, knowing that the ice was only going to freeze it to death slowly, and painfully. He decided to give it a merciful death. He walked up to the downed beast that groaned in pain. Intending to kill the young black dragon, it whined a bit, trying to back away only to cringe. The dragon gave out a cry that was quickly silenced as the warrior’s blade hit true and slew the young beast.
