Wrong perspective at the the "floor" bricks. The effect was lost.

Every time I come back to this picture it reminds me of Gatlinburg, about ten years ago. They have that observation tower in the middle of town, and it was raining when I was there. Not a heavy downpour, just a light sprinkle so spare it was impossible to feel the tiny individual drops. Everyone else was indoors hiding from the weather, so my wife and I had the whole tower all to ourselves. It was cool and tranquil - it almost felt like stepping into some other, timeless trouble-free world.

The Gatlinburg tower is steel, not brick, but that doesn't matter. This picture captures that fleeting moment perfectly. If I had the time, I'd spend all day on this page.
