Smashing Colors (Progress Montage)
Finished shots here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/19358807/
-I used matte acrylic paint with the colors shown in the first pic
-Masking tape was used to shield the areas I did not want to paint
-I could not find the exact shade I wanted to paint with, so I had to mix and match in a palette as shown.
-There were problems with applying the paint in terms of composition balance. If the paint was too thick, it would smear over the surface details of the fur, leaving it looking lumpy, if it was too thin, the paint color washed right off with the water.
-When applying the paint on the blue surfaces, I had to reapply several layers of coats to get the color to look uniform.
-As a finishing touch, I used a red marker to color the eyes a deeper shade of red.

Oh no...
Err...
I've never tried painting an Amiibo before but as someone who paints a lot of plastic wargamining minis... next time you should give it a base coat to make the colors more even and use some better quality paints like Vallejo or Citadel. Those paints are definitely too thick still. An ink wash and highlights will also really make your figure pop, the blue ink wash citadel makes would be perfect for this.

the inconsistent color was because I had to mix paints to get the shade I wanted. I was too slow and halfway through painting it started getting chunky and drying up so I had to throw it away and make another batch, but I couldn't perfectly match the color shade. I will keep in mind Vallejo or Citadel for next time though if they are good for use on figurines.
If you really need to mix to get the right color, go citadel. It's the most expensive but it IS the best stuff out there. Vallejo is almost exactly the same but doesn't mix as well. Both have a ton of shades of blue though, so you should be able to find the color you want without mixing.
I very much recommend using a base coat to start from a clean slate, as well. White for brighter blues or black for darker blacks.
