Hey! First "human submission! 8D. Wait, no, second...I already posted Astarte...FIRST ELF SUBMISSION THEN.
Anyway, this is one of my personal works with my dark elf chick character, Mahima :)
I drew the rough sketch for it pretty long time ago, but despite having a precised idea for it(which doesn't happen too often to be honest, not indluding commissions where I get asked to draw specific stuff, I'm more of an "freestyle" drawer), I had problems finishing it, I was messing up the proportions and stuff like that.
Fast-forward several months later and I get a compulsive need to finish it and I actually manage to do it in reasonable amount of time :) I must say I'm pretty happy with the final effect, and I hope you'll enjoy it too :D
Edit: Fixed the shoulder part (and collarbone, since it turned out to be bit incorrect too). Not the best it could be done, but the best I could at the moment. :)

Her expression is delightfully ambiguous. Is she contemplative, relaxed, under extreme pressure and trying to hold it together?
I'm inclined to think contemplative, the golden blood seems to suggest her nervous system, or perhaps a grounding root system. But the sharp contrast between gold and purple is almost reminiscent of a lightning storm, in addition the color scheme suggests a certain air of royalty.
I could easily envision this as the cover art for something.
I hope you don't mind criticism, but her body's shape loses definition around where the mind starts to look for the shoulder. However, this may be intentional to highlight the golden blood effect, which is does quite nicely. Hardly though, does this detract from this excellent piece.

I love your interpretation so much! I myself would say it's more on the side of relaxation (or reaching some higher levels of conscioussness through some form of meditation).
Also criticism is absolutely fine! In fact, I had a problem with drawing that exact area. I wanted to indicate the shoulder through how her hair is positioned there, but I think it might be worth to spend some extra minutes and draw shoulder properly, then reupload the image. I hope i can change the source file without the need to upload it as separate submission.
