This is my 'newer' truck. Well, newer in acquisition. I paid $4,300 for it. 2.9L V6, 4x4, working radio, original (rare) speakers in the dash and rare original behind the seat speakers. Manual transmission. Currently has a list of issues before it can be used as the daily driver I purchased it as. I figured I would post it. other pictures of it to follow---oh sheeeee......I forgot to post the other pictures of Anime Fest didn't I? Well this is the truck I drove to Dallas. Anyone remember seeing this clunky thing farting around the convention center?
Fantasy because it's a bloody fantasy to hope this thing will run right now! >..<

The first ranger I ever bought was $300. Shorter bed than this one, 2 wheel drive, 1 less gear in the manual transmission, 2 less pistons under the hood, and rust spots. Big ones. If THIS truck ran as good as that first ranger yes, this truck would be a steal. Sadly instead of getting a cheap reliable daily driver, I bought myself a project.
Are you kidding me? You paid $4300 for a broke down 28 year old mini-pickup??
No offense dude, but you got SERIOUSLY ripped off. You need to contact whoever you bought this thing from and demand a refund or at least a partial.
This trunk is worth no more than $600-700 is the condition it's in currently in, running or not. You could have bought a mint early 2000's F-150 for 4K.

it was advertised with a New motor, rebuilt transmission, both with 500 miles on them, and knowing about Rangers I figured that was a deal for a 200,000 mile reliable beater truck. Besides, I usually buy Chevrolet. However the only comparable size truck available are S-10s and I don't like the way they look. What I'm planning is dropping the Ford running gear out of this and replacing it with Colorado/S-10 gear. Chevy reliability in the astetics of the Ford Ranger square-body
Did you receive the proper documentation to PROVE the engine and tranny were rebuilt? The title status of the vehicle should reflect this fast as well. I wouldn't ever buy anything rebuilt because it could have been a home job with second hand parts :/
I would rather buy a dirt cheap project vehicle that runs and then source the parts and labor myself.
Still, for that kind of money, you could have bought something way more utilitarian than a beater Ranger.

Well yeah. If it had been as-advertised it would have been a good deal. However now that I spent $5,000+ on it, I'm not junking it. I'd love to drop a new Chevrolet Colorado engine in it. That 3.something-or-other that gets almost 30 miles to the gallon (in a MUCH heavier body) and cranks out 305 horsepower. Yeah I know transmission mating and transfercase and yeah, it'll be a custom job all the way through but it'd be a really unique idea.
