Taking a leaf from Akira Toriyama of Dragonball fame's book, I wanted to establish that Infurlation Redux took place in a parallel world. This makes it more fun for me to sneak in real world references without awkward social politics or finger-jabbing. Their world is loosely based on the prehistoric super continent of Pangea in the process of breaking apart and the country names are all references, portmanteaus or deliberate corruptions of real world places.
Tyrone's a mixture of two guys I used to work with a very long time ago. Yep, skiing accident and all. Tyrone's original surname was Bellows, but has been altered to Barnum, referencing Barnum Brown - the man who discovered the first tyrannosaurus rex fossil. Pretty fitting, don't you think?
