Well, this is actually a slender, quadrupedal creature. What we're seeing is a view of it's back "from above", so the rest of it's limbs are not seen.
I tried to find a photo example for you of, say, a coyote's back from that angle, but no luck yet.

I apologize for sending you multiple responses, sweetheart. I just wanted to let you know that my work is FAR from perfect... Everything I do has flaws in it, so I am sorry if it sounded as if I was making up excuses for this piece. e.e;
I was definitely trying to make the creature look believable, but even so, that doesn't mean I avoided making mistakes here.
