OH GREAT! While Chris was standing there shocked, Samantha started to walk away, and in swooped Gwen! Now Gwen is babbling Naomi's poor doggy ears off, saying something like, "According to Redford's guide to successful library management, You're doing a wonderful job!" and more about how she's reading this and that and to Chris's horror, NAOMI IS ENJOYING THE CONVERSATION!
With how much Gwen loves to blab about books, they could be quietly and politely chatting for hours! And to make matters worse, Sally licked her chops and began to follow Samantha! Now you know for SURE that the dragoness wants a kitty snack!
This has all gone downhill terribly in the last few seconds, and you didn't even do anything! Worst of all, it's not like you could just leave and try the office approach some other time, because Samantha would be dragon fat! Chris has to think of something quick!

oh bloody hell (/w< asking for help would be bad since she would think that as rude and might nom you instead of helping (of course being quick on you're feet you could maybe trick Naomi pointing out she might be sneaking out a book that she is gholding hmmm)
though i pick the other just because if the dragon is distracted nomming sammantha he could try nomming the dragon for some extra bonus pred point (/w> BUNSIE BELIVE IN YA! (or then again you could go past sally quickly say hello to sam though it will blow you're cover striking a conversation might lead to her not noming yes i am way overthinking this (/w< )

You gotta be kidding me....that's a hard decision... You know...he'd better interrupt Gwen and ask for help. He could say "hey Gwen sorry to interrupt but I need a bit of help" at least after she'd call Sally over to talk with her to distract her while Chris gets to Samantha.
