I might be selling it later this year. I still don't know for sure what I want but I am Leaning to a MK5 GTI with Leather and Nav. But I kind of want a rear wheel drive car so I was checking out a 2005 GTO. But 400Hp means insurance will kill me.

You and my best friend have the EXACT same car taste.
He has a MkV GTI with leather and all the goodies (seen in my gallery), and it was a choice between that and a GTO LS2. He happens to have an LS2 already (C6 Z51 Vette), so he went with the GTI. His project will be a Pontiac Solstice GXP with a LS2 (or LS7, depending on $$) swap.
Personally, I absolutely love his GTI. Chipped, it makes around 300lb/ft of torque. It's not stupid fast, but it's plenty quick for a daily driver, and it won't eat gas like it's free. That said, the Vette gets better highway MPG than my Passat (32MPG observed for the Vette, 31 for my Passy), so I can't imagine the Goat, with the manual at least, would get too much worse than that. Although, it is like 4000lbs...
You've got excellent car taste, and good luck with the new car decision. If you need resources for either of those cars, my friend and I are pretty far into the enthusiast communities for them. Have fun.

hmmm...well if u go for a new golf, why not better look for the Golf VI GTi? the Golf V in Europe is not considerated a good Golf...and the new Golf VI definitively beats the Golf V...plus now the new one has adaptative sport suspension, and considering its a FF car, all this kind of gadgets are welcomed...because a FF will be always less safe than a FR, even if people thinks this is wrong...
for my car I pay lotta money for my insurance, but well, im just 24 yo, so thats why...

Because when I add the leather, the Navigation it will end up costing around $30,000. When for about half that I can get a used one. I thought Top Gear and a few other mags liked the Mk5 GTI. We like it over here. FF is safer in snow then FR but I don't get any so what the hell.
well, even FF is not safe, because the understeer and nobody can solve understeer :P top gear is UK, no europe :P english people arent considerated european :P here all specialized magazines talk bad about the Golf V an dthey say the VI is way better in all aspects and solved all bad qualities from the V
