Sorry, bud. Italian and Spanish are two whole different animals. They lost most of their similarities a long time ago. If someone wants to learn them both, it'll have to be on their own desire to. There is no system that requires someone to learn both.

doesnt need to be winter. depending on the region snow can start mid fall and not stop till mid spring. so... if you mean how long will the snow last, up to 6 months.

There have been years here, such as last year, where we started getting snow in October and it didn't go away until May. There was about 6 feet in our backyard, almost to the top of our fence.
