This is a test render I did to see if normal maps I made in zbrush work without any major bugs. As you can see it doesn't have "material" texture yet so it's all leather colored atm. I'll finish with the normal maps first. There's still a lot to do. Adding some colors will be the last thing to do in zb.
The armor isn't really "realistic" but it's a fantasy world so I suppose it doesn't matter that much ^_^
I will add more details to hand and leg pieces tomorrow.

Oh really? Huh... I could have sworn that when it rotated I saw them bulge out. Well, good job on that! I have major problems with creating normal maps from scratch... Don't have a freakin' clue how. I know this is just a comment on a submission, but.. do you have any tips on how to edit/create normals properly..? Cause you seem pretty good at it.
Well, some of the rivets are big enough that there has to be some mesh deforming or it wouldn't look right. I have no idea how you should draw normal map. dunno if it's possible. I use Zbrush. It generates the normal map after you've detailed the mesh there and it works great as long as the model has been uv unwrapped.
I use Photoshop for all my normal maps... But that's most because I do textures only, no modelling... I have a two friends who make models, and map. I make the textures for them both... Though I'll be completely honest, the only texturing/normal mapping stuff I've done has been for the Source Engine. I know most of the shaders and whatnot like the back of my hand. ^_^

I do know that doing buckles and straps and such is gonna be murder on any engine you're using.
key thing, don't worry about clipping.
Most of us have played games that are based in such a time and clipping is "just another thing" we overlook. So, tell the viewers to overlook it and we will XD.
