We're not quite there yet, but that's 93 out of 100 lives saved. You could be one who it saves!

Cancer research has taken a new turn in the direction of finding a cure. Instead of the traditional chemotherapy we have seen in the past, researchers are looking into ways of getting our bodies to fight cancer cells. No more nausea, losing hair and all the nasty side effects of chemotherapy, with better results.
A lot of this research is funded by the American Cancer society. Help me raise money at Relay for Life to fund this kind of awesome research! Just a few dollars from each of you will help!

You may have not been affected by cancer, whether through yourself or a loved one, so you may not understand the pain it causes not only the carrier but those close to them. MANY of us have been affected by this demon and we don't take too kindly to those who post things such as you have.
Without this research there may never be a cure. Yet you hate on those who have a passion to help people beat cancer. Instead of the negativity that you have laid upon such a wonderful person's FA post, why don't you keep your mouth shut if you do not support finding a cure for cancer?
And to you, dearest Eddie, maybe I can find something to donate. Our county has decided not to hold a Relay this year, and I am saddened by this decision. The past few years I myself have participated in it for the rememberance of my grandparents.
And my apologies to you friend for putting someone in their place on your post. Good luck with your relay. I wish you and those able to join you the best.

Excuse me, but his story is definitely not "bull shit". He LOST family close to him. MANY of us have. So what if there is articles everywhere? It's because cancer is becoming more common. A cure is not going to be found in an instant. There has to be research. To do research there has to be funding. To get funds, people donate. This isn't trying to sure the flu or common cold. This is something much more serious.
If you don't want to believe peoples stories about how they have been affected, then that is all on you. His loss is not a lie. So once again, go spread your negativity somewhere else.

Eddiebear, I wish I could join you and Kajita Lion in the relay walk for life.
Relay for life does more that support research for gene-therapy; they support research on bone marrow cloning(another of the things they did for my dad). He had been a healthy marathon runner before the diagnosis, so he was eligible for those extreme therapies. It's unfortunate, but gene-therapies, cloning, and chemotherapy are selective because success rates matter.
My dad will always have cancer until there is a cure. When they had discovered he had cancer, it had spread throughout his lymphatic system. His spleen was the size of a cantaloupe too. He was given a stage 4 diagnosis. Today, he is in remission because of gene-therapies and chemotherapy. His gene-therapy used a gene redundancy technique so that the reintroduced cancer cell would produce a way to be targeted by the T-cells.--much the reverse of your article, a lot more expensive, and a lot more risky.
I can't remember if the newest drug is based on one of the rare earth metals, platinum, but I hope something else comes along that is much more affordable. So while my dad will always have cancer, we hope that people will find it in their hearts to support the relay for life until there is a real cure; because anyone can get cancer. --Doesn't matter if you can pay for the treatment or not, cancer may strike and that's why time is of the essence for patients and the world over.

You are so correct. The American Cancer Society not only helps fund research, they also help support the people and their families who are dealing with cancer. Whether it's transportation, lodging or food.
When my late wife was battling cancer, they helped provide needed additional specialty food and supplements that would have been an additional financial burden to obtain. The "game plan" for my sister was stem cell therapy for her bone cancer, but unfortunately did not survive long enough for the risky procedure to occur.
I am glad that your father is in remission, and hope that it stays that way so he can live a good, long life!

I appreciate the support and comments that you, Semifiend and Nayuxwolf have made in defense of my efforts. It does hurt me to see individuals who just don't get it.
Fortunately, the positive responses I've received far exceeds the one negative.
There's even been some donations made.
