So basically i had a GTX580 lying around which had very bad thermals, so i decided to delid it.
First i tried to melt the adhesive between IHS and Die by using lighter and hair dryer. Did not work.
Then i tried Razor blade. Did not work.
Finally i said, "Fuck this shit" and just rammed a screwdriver between the gap and hammered it. and it worked. lol.
I installed it on the test bench to see if it works, and it posted. When my broken power supply comes in repaired
then i can get 3D tests running to see if i broke it or not.
Wish me luck o3o

I had a dead GTX480 once that I wanted to pull the chip off of to make into a piece of jewelry or something. After about 15 minutes with a hot air rework station, the stupid thing still wouldn't come off, so I chiseled it. After a few good hits, the board broke, the chip cracked and the lid came off, so I kept the lid, its around here somewhere. I don't know how they put those on, but they are pretty tough and the adhesive is highly heat resistant.
