There was once a colony world known as Terminus, the planet was a bit harsh to support life it many ways it was similar to our own Mars in the Sol System. Growing enough food for nutritional needs became problematic due to the colony's growing size, so they commissioned a bio-tech company known as "Diederich Enterprises" to come up with a solution to the colony's growing problem. They created a super-food out of combining several fruits, plants and fungi into one organism; It resembled a somewhat large mushroom with a fragrant smell of cinnamon. In test trails it proved to work, it gave test subjects all of the necessary nutritional needs. So they then shipped the product and the seeds to the Terminus colony, which they called it "DE-SF 14" it wasn't very catchy so the colonists took to calling it "Mush-fruit". But it seems that Mush-fruit had side-effects....within the next 4 months the original testers complained of headaches, internal pain, vomiting and delirium. But it proved it was much more horrific with a week later, the subjects start to take on morphological changes to mimic plant, fungi or fruit like features as their bodies horribly contorted and twisted. The subjects shown to be completely feral and hostile, not to mention highly infectious due to them releasing spores. As such the test labs incinerated the subjects and the rooms to prevent infection. At that moment, the Terminus colony has gone dark 5 months; a R&D containment squad was sent to the colony. What they found was a world changed by the Mush-fruit, as the entire surface on approach had become lush, vibrant forests of large species of fungi and plants. But to the squad's shocking horror all of the new life was indeed the transformed colonists, still it proved capable of somehow cause terraforming. So a small R&D installation was setup to study the planet and uncover how this happened on such a large scale. From that point onward, all travel to and from Terminus in denied and will be met with harshest of punishment to those that try to enter that area of space.
