I need your opinion, everyone. Which of these two styles of drawing curly ringlets do you prefer, and why?

I've been working on a particular Flux Visage story for over a year. It's a long one, and it heavily involves the growth of long, beautiful curly hair. The look of said hair is something I've been struggling with from day one, which is why I'm eager to hear what you think!

(She looks unhappy because her character is the victim of forced TF. Sorry that there aren't any pics of her with a happy smile. She should smile, though. I would.)
