Based on one of my role plays between my friend Gage 'n I. For some reason, its already been established that Des has become the monster's companion/pet dog when we haven't even role played their first encounter.

As far as it goes. Papyster is a monster who is pretty much a UnderFell!Papyrus mixed with Gaster. He's a brutal monster who'd slaughter anything and everything in sight, turning them to ash. In his AU, Sans is dead. Killed by none other than Papyster. The only questions is why he decided to keep Des alive, why he only keeps her around. He knows that she would continue to fight back now and again, she still holds defiance towards him. She's seen what he could do to others who gets in his way. So why is she still alive?

This version of Papyster is just an early version of him before it was more official in some later works
