Specimen: Torchwood
World of Origin:Earth Z
During the zombie war genetically engineered plants were used as defensive screens for survivors to stop waves of zombies from breaking into their homes. The torchwood plant grown from these seeds resembled a small stump filled with flames and set fire to projectiles that passed over it. These engineered torchwoods are actually immature specimens of a much more dangerous mycoform. A thermophiliac variety of foxfire fungus that invades rotting wood, and absorbs heat from the enviroment until it creates a furnace within the dead tree, at this point the entity becomes mobile and seeks to spread it's spores by setting forest fires. Other sentient plant and fungus lifeforms hate and fear torchwoods for this reason.
