F5!!!
It's been a loooong time since I made the first version of this continent's map (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8029134/) from my Dimensional Shadows setting, so I decided to remake it! Now it looks much better IMO!
Actually part of a parrallel universes' earth, Illiad is found in a sub-dimension and thus mostly inaccessible by people from Earth; at least as long as they don't actively try to get there. Once they do that, it's actually pretty easy.
Anyways, with an updated map come updated descriptions, so here we go! Numbers are Towns and important Landmarks, Letters are Countries and Territories. Go!
A - L
A through H: The United Mikaruian Territories of Illiad. Often called United Illiad for short. The biggest and most influental country on the continent. It's mostly populated by, as the name says, the Mikaru, a one of the two original species of Illiad. However, it also has a sizable population of Humans, Arrash, Rakiakaru, Ree-Mai, Tirrdaka, Shadow- and Light-Walkers and Dragons.
A - The Tayian Territory, mostly inhabited by Light-Elemental Mikaru, the Tayians. It's the seat of the capital but also the countries technological center; most technology used in Illiad is created here. Even transdimensional travel was first invented in this territory. Only in this part of the Illiadian sub-dimension, full sun-eclipses are visible.
B - Gurian Territory of Illiad, mostly inhabited by Gurians, Penumbra-Elemental Mikaru. Gurians tend to be both very intellectual and into both natural sciences and gathering information; thus, it's no big surprise that a lot of respected schools are found here. The Gurian Territory is known for it's meteor showers.
C - The Munian Territory, inhabited by the dark-elementals of the Mikaru, the Munians. The Munian Territory is very well respected for it's crafts and arts. A lot of famous poets, sculptists, artists and theatrical performers come from here. Similiarly to the Tayian territories' full sun eclipses, only full moon-eclipses are found here.
D - The Shadian Territory, mostly inhabited by the Shadow-Elemental Shadians. Shadians tend to be a bit more prone to violence than the other Mikaru, which is why this place usually gets a bit of the bad rep. However, it's actually a pretty great place for warrior training or if you want to learn martial arts.
E - Lirian Territory, which is populated by the Water-elementals of Illiad, the Lirians. The biggest towns are usually found near the water. Famous for it's Sea Food.
F - The Toarian Territory, where mostly Fire-Elemental Mikaru live. Most of this territory is a big desert, and not many towns and villages are found here. However, those that do exist are usually quite big and found near water.
G - Rurian Territory of Illiad, mostly inhabited by Air-Elemental Mikaru. Some of the very first few floating cities where founded here, shortly after the War of Equality, around 5000 BC.
H - The Iakan Territory of Illiad, which is where most Earth-elementals live. It's inhabitants are known to do beautiful things out of Rock and Plants; even making houses out of them!
I - The Isle-Republic of Aisepa. The first democratic nation if Illiad, even preceding United Illiad. It mostly consists out of a lot of the Islands in the north-west of Illiad anda few scattered around the rest of Illiad; excluding the tons unexplored ones. It's ihabited by a bright, colorful mix of all sapient species of Illiad, but mostly humans and dragons. Has a good relationship with the United Territories.
J - The island of Eikarada, which is mostly inhabited by formerly Mikaru Rakiakaru, which lost the ability to go back to their Mikaruian forms. Eikarada only consists out of several smaller villages and tribes; even it's capital is nothing more than a village.
K - Orasara is the country of the Ree-Mai, the second of the original Illiadian species. The Ree-Mai here live traditionally in small tribes and communities, so no real towns exist. Has a good relationship with the United Territories.
L - Oriiga Orakka Dorro, the Island of Phantom Dragons. This clan of special Shadow-Elemental dragons is known to live and hunt on these two islands. While they're known to be Man-Eaters, much to most of Illiad's discomfort, their current leader is actually very friendly to a few humans.
1-16 Important Towns and Landmarks
1 - Okshan, Capital of both United Illiad and the Tayian territories. It's one of the younger cities to exist on the continent. It's the first floating city to be completed and, before it was a floating city, transdimensional travel was invented in this exact town.
2 - The town of Ikasha. Here, the equality movement was founded, by Kashi Arrasse. without it, Illiad still would be mostly devided. It's now a popular place for sightseeing.
3 - Okkeia, capital of the Gurian Territory. It's the city in Illiad with the most Ree-Mai living there, at about 35%. It's also known for it's University, the University of Okkeia, which is well known for it's excellent teaching and scholarships.
4 - Zakri, Capital of the Munian Territory. It's famous for it's many many artists, both modern and old, that came from here. It also gets many visitors daily, just for the plays and operas in it's opera house.
5 - Kotark, Capital of the Shadian Territory. Located on the foot of the Shadian Territory's mountain chain. It has a pretty bloody and violent history, but recently it tries to get away from that.
6 - Boras, the capital of the Lirian Territory. It's one half is above the water, the other half is under the sea, underneath a Dome. It's apparently a beautiful sight.
7 - The capital of the Toarian Territory, Katasa. It's known for it's excellent crafts in swords, knifes and other meele weapons. This place is however extremely hot and thus, doesn't get many non-fire elemental visitors; they'd literally couldn't handle the temperatures without the right measures.
8 - Faria, the capital of the Rurian Territory. It's a floating town, and the second floating town to be completed in United Illiad. It's known for it's constantly changing weather, which tends to go crazy sometimes.
9 - The capital of the Iakan Territory, Porgin. This town was entirely built and carved into a mountain. It's apparently proof for Iakan expertise with Earth and Rocks.
10 - Baitrea, the capital of Eikarada. Despite beeing a capital, it's just a small-ish Rakiakaru-village and thus a bit boring.
11 - Tasar, the capital of Aisepa. It's population is a big, colorful mix of all intelligent species on Illiad.
12 - The Suqua-Channel. It's the only Artificial River in Illiad. It flows through a mountain, wich once was an active volcano. Now its vent is a lake.
13 - The Kikivra-Sea, one of the big lakes of Illiad. It's very popular for visits in Summer from all over Illiad.
14 - The Potora-Sea. It's the bigges lake in all of Illiad. Many Lirians cities and towns surround it. This water of the sea still is clear and clean, like thousands of years ago.
15 - The Phantom-Mountain. This mountain with many caves is the home of the Phantom-Dragon clan, the Soul-claws.
16 - The Quirea-mountain. At this mountain, the Ree-Mai and the Mikaru both celebrate the Sun-Festival every 50 years. It's even famous in United Illiad. Because the Mikaru and the kind Ree-Mai share so much history, everytime the Sun-Festival is held, Mikaruian tourists come by and help with the preparation and the execution.
