Here's Ferin with one of her many admirers, Edward VanRoDine. Edward stands out among the males who desire Ferin for two reasons: one is that she has absolutely no interest in him (she finds him dull and boring, not to mention a little weird), and the other is that they are distantly related.

Edward's mother, Winifred, is the half-sister of Simone, who is first cousins with Vivian, Ferin's mother. Simone is related to Winifred through her father, whereas Simone is related to Vivian through her mother. This means that there is technically no blood-relation between Winifred and Vivian, and therefore no blood-relation between Edward and Ferin, and yet they were raised almost as cousins.

Ferin never really had much to do with Edward. Growing up, he was just another playmate, a relative to visit on occasion. Yet as they grew up, Edward began to harbor a deep attraction to Ferin, one that she has repeatedly tried to put out. She has never gone on a date with him, never gave any inclination she could possibly be interested, and yet Edward keeps on fawning over her. And nobody really knows why. ^^

In fact, I realized that Ferin and Edward are somewhat like Belle and Gaston - only with their personalities and social standing switched around. Haha.

Ferin: Get away from me, Edward. You disgust me.
Edward: No, you really love me, I can tell. And you'll marry me someday, you wait and see.

How will things work out between them? Just wait and see. ;)
