Sketch I'll probably never finish xP
These are two of my OCs, Kesare (taller four winged guy in the back) and Sekare (short little purple one with long crazy sleeves).
This is pretty typical of how I draw things out, in sketch form the figures are drawn out fully, then clothes and details are added over. Its a lot of extra drawing, but it results in more accuracy in the end as there's less fudging of anatomy for sake of clothing and the like. Although the details like this are largely invisible in the final product.
Also, I've never seen furisode sleeves that long, but damn I think it looks cool, so in drawing I often draw Sekare having sleeves that don't logically make any sense. She's a spirit, I rationalize, she can wear clothing that looks like whatever she wants.
Character rambling: Sekare and Kesare were in love when they were both still alive, but died before they ever got a chance to marry. In Japanese tradition, unmarried women wore a style of kimono called 'furisode' which are easily picked out for their extra long sleeves. Since Sekare never got a chance to marry, she continues to wear this style even in the afterlife, despite the fact her and Kesare have spent several hundred years together been ghost buddies xD
