This truly is a beautifully-made piece by one of my favorite artists, and I was fortunate to have stumbled on a journal posting for relatively generous priced head-shots of this detailed caliber. I normally make some witty or "amusing" dialogue but I feel that these rare instances would be ruin if I do so. A big thank you to the artist, it takes a lot of talent, skill, and patience to be able to draw something like this with little cooperation or input from the commissioner. I've been trying to "draw" sketches of poses to help artists get the "idea" since words do little justice in certain cases but she managed to capture it on her own without many words; no sketch needed, thankfully.
As it is, I've always loved nighttime and the use of the lighting, dimness, and composure along with the dark environment provokes a somewhat stealthy, hidden (or repressed) feeling that I like. Plus, I've always been interested in the duality in all things and chaotic psychology (like Two-Face or American Psycho) so I REALLY like how this turned out; you get something handsome in the moonlight, and then something dark lurking beneath like it's masquerade. Finally, the light in his eyes gives a "mystic" to give him that mad-scientist/sorcerer deal that I want in this character. Overall, I'm very pleased with the results X3
(PS: There were two versions of this, each "flipped," so I decided on using the other as the thumbnail as I thought it'd be cool)
