Yep, it's that time again. The time to shower random people with gift art. Only this time there's no forum thread to guide me so beware: here be dragons.

It's not entirely random. I have these moments where I simply don't want to think about what I'm going to draw. Times I just want to sketch without thinking about what I'm doing.
To prepare for those moments I keep a list of potentially interesting characters. Occasionally I'll complement this list by simple typing the word reference in the search engine and sorting by date. This list has only one important constraint: the character has to have some significance to it's owner. (this first step is new. I used to be able to simple use the forum thread but alas, no more forums.)
Then, whenever I don't want to think I just go over this list and start sketching whatever strikes my fancy. Some of it will be characters from the list but that isn't required. Sometimes a character simply inspires me to draw something else.
The majority of those sketches go absolutely nowhere. Not thinking isn't always that conductive to producing coherent art. Some sketches show promise and those occasionally get turned into gift art.

Oh booger. That explanation somehow came out way more complex than it had to be. My process is actually really ad hoc. But in trying to convey a chaotic process in a structured way I appear to have accidentally restructured the process.
Just trust me, It's way more chaotic and random than it sounds.
